NAVIGATING THE COFFEE WORLD
WE WORK HERE. THAT’S THE WHOLE CREDENTIAL.

HOW WE
USE AI

WHERE IT HELPS,
WHERE IT DOESN’T

We use AI tools for some of the work. Better to write that down than have you wonder. The rule underneath it: a byline means a person stands behind the piece.

Where we use it

  • Copy-editing drafts a human already wrote.
  • Headline options, which a person picks or rejects.
  • Summarising background reading.
  • Transcribing interviews, checked against the recording.
  • Building this website, including most of its code.

Where we never use it

  • Quotations. If someone is quoted, they said it to a person.
  • Statistics, dates or sources. Numbers come with a source or they do not run.
  • First-person experience. A POV: Barista dispatch is somebody’s actual shift.
  • Inventing businesses, people or scenes that did not happen.
  • Images of real places passed off as photographs.
  • Deciding what a piece concludes.

Your submissions

We do not put your unpublished submission into a third-party AI tool. If that ever needs to change for a specific piece, we ask you first and you can say no.

We label it

If AI did more than copy-edit a dispatch, the status box on that piece says so. Think we crossed our own line? Tell us at inbox@brewser.app and it gets printed like any other correction.
